Kokatat is sponsoring Hayley Shepard’s expedition to solo circumnavigation of South Georgia Island. Hayley sent in some final information before she kicks off on her expedition.
“The time has arrived. I am about to depart Alert Bay, Canada and begin my journey down to South America. It has been a whirlwind as the final weeks were jam-packed with training, gear preparation, technical systems established, filming already started for the documentary, and ‘bon voyage’ dinners with friends.
I would like to give everyone my itinerary, as well as direct you around my website and blog site so you know just how to track me, read my daily journal, and listen to the audio broadcasts I will be regularly leaving.
OK here goes – my itinerary is as follows:
-Jan 20th Depart Alert Bay and head down to Victoria, B.C
-Jan 21st Final shopping for gear and bon voyage BBQ gathering at Gerald’s
-Jan 22nd Beth-Anne and I depart Victoria at noon
-Jan 24th Arrive into Ushuaia and meet up with the Northanger
-Jan 28th Depart Ushuaia on the Northanger
-Feb 6/7th Northanger arrives in Grytviken
-Feb 7/8th I depart Grytviken by kayak heading NW along the East coast of South Georgia Island
-March 10-15th I expect to be completed, arriving safely back into Grytviken then sail to the Falkland Islands, Stanley.
-March 20th Beth-Anne and I depart Stanley onwards to Santiago
-March 25th Arrive inVictoria, B.C

Words cannot express how appreciative I am for all of your support over the past 3 years while I have worked on this long-awaited dream and project. Kokatat’s kind donations and on-going belief in me, your interest and encouragement has helped make this project possible. I feel it is far from a solo journey as I know you will all be present one paddle stroke at a time and for that I am sincerely grateful.
Best wishes to you all.”
